This informative session provides pupil transportation personnel with a wide range of practical and easy to apply concepts to make their buses safer.  The session includes such powerful topics as pattern recognition and matching which can help drivers rapidly identify an array of human behaviors which can indicate threats ranging from bullying to terrorism.  The session will also include information on key concepts that can be used to handle a range of school bus crisis situations such as crashes, violent incidents and hostage situations.

In most schools, the custodial personnel know more about the building than anyone else.  This means these critical personnel are an invaluable asset in preventing, preparing for and responding to a wide variety of school crisis situations. This interesting and informative session will explore the incredible power that school custodial personnel have to prevent tragic losses of human life in schools while also helping to improve school climate and student achievement.  This session will demonstrate how custodial staff can use their unique perspective to make schools safer in ways that no other school employees can.  This session is also designed to help custodial understand why they have a right to be proud of their contribution to the education of our most precious natural resource – our children.

Gate Keepers – Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness for Front Office Staff

This captivating session examines the crucial role that receptionists, secretaries administrative assistance and others who serve as “gate keepers” in schools and support facilities play in the prevention of, preparedness for and response to school and support facility crisis events.  This session will cover key aspects of school safety and emergency preparedness in relation to the unique role that gatekeepers serve.
