Bellaire is a 15-year police veteran with five years of experience in supervisory positions. He began his career in law enforcement with the Macon Police Department as a Patrolman and a Neighborhood Police Officer with the Americorp Cadet Program. After two years with the Macon Police Department, he accepted a position with a school district police department and has been promoted to sergeant. He has received extensive formal training in school policing, youth intervention, and emergency management. Mr. Bellaire has extensive experience working in the prevention of youth gang violence.
Mr. Bellaire is a certified Field Training Officer, who trains officers on using proactive approaches when policing school settings, is the Field Training Supervisor, and oversees the department’s Field Training Program. He has certifications in law enforcement supervision and management. He also served in the Army Reserves with the 921 st Field Hospital in Sacramento, California, and received an honorable discharge after fulfilling his commitment. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems from Mercer University and completed a Master’s in Business Administration from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. Mr. Belaire is a contributing author for a 600-page university textbook Extreme Violence: Understanding and Protecting People from Active Assailants, Hate Crimes, and Terrorist Attacks released by Cognella in January 2021.
Since joining Safe Havens assessment team, Mr. Bellaire has conducted school safety, security, and emergency preparedness assessments for several hundred public, faith-based, boarding, and independent schools in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington State and conducted assessments for the school safety, climate, culture, safety, security, and emergency preparedness assessment project for 205 schools operated by Orange County Public Schools in Florida in 2014 and the project to assess 234 Schools and 21 support facilities in the Broward County Florida Public School System.
