Learn how to… 

identify a variety of hazards, critical emergency preplanning features, and ways to improve the climate, safety, supervision of students, access control, building design for future construction projects, and to enhance the learning environment of the school. 

The training utilizes the all hazards approach and will cover a variety of hazards ranging from slips and falls, gravity hazards, bullying, to fires, acts of violence, terrorism and other types of crisis situations.  The classroom training will also include a thorough overview of first- and second- generation CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design). CPTED is a research-based body of knowledge that is focused on creating improvements in security while enhancing the feeling of safety by focusing on the building environment and how people utilize that environment.

Weapon Violence

Prevention of School Weapons Assaults

Standard course length: one hour to one day

Based on a program originally developed for the International Association of Chiefs of Police, many attendees rate this as the most comprehensive program of its type. This session examines the wide array of school weapons assaults rather than focusing solely on deadly yet extremely rare multiple victim school shootings. A wide array of best practices based on the instructor’s proven field record as a school district chief of police in a school system that originally developed a number of techniques that have become standard in the field. Techniques that have been used to successfully thwart numerous planned school shootings, bombings and suicides will be covered.
