School bus driver charged with neglect after a child is choked on her bus

Naples, FL

A 57-year old school bus driver was arrested and charged with neglect after a child was choked unconscious by another student.  According to the police, the driver “failed to provide any assistance to the victim during or after the Oct. 15 attack.”

An assailant choked the victim without being noticed by the driver.  When another student helped the victim off the bus into the sidewalk, the police reported that the driver “did not get off of the bus to inquire about the seriousness of the injury to the victim, nor did she call 911 or call for medical assistance.”

The assailant was arrested, and will be charged as a juvenile for battery.

Middle school student arrested at school for attempted murder

Vancouver, Washington

An 11-year old student at Frontier Middle School was arrested and charged with one count of attempted murderPolice found him in possession of a handgun, 400 rounds of ammunition, and several knives.

The school was placed on lockdown for approximately two hours as police conducted a search.

School Security Incident – Massachusetts high school teacher second teacher murdered in the U.S. this week

The body of teacher Danvers High School teacher Colleen Ritzer was found in the woods near her school.  District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett stated that a 14-year-old student is being charged as an adult in the murder.  Danvers, Massachusetts is described as having a low crime rate.  School officials have announced that all schools in the district were closed today as a result of the incident.  

Schools have been conducting school security assessments in unprecedented numbers since the tragic school security incident in Newtown, Connecticut last December. 

Shooting at Sparks Middle School leaves 2 dead, 2 critically wounded

Sparks City, NV

There was a shooting this morning at Sparks Middle School in Sparks City, Nevada.  Preliminary reports have two dead, including the shooter, and two listed in critical condition.

Nearby Agnes Risley Elementary School went into lockdown, then was evacuated, along with Sparks Middle School, to Sparks High School for reunification with families.
