Free School Safety Conference Series, Presented by Navigate-Prepared

Great opportunity to attend a free school safety conference

Today I am honored to be able to keynote a free school safety conference being presented by NaviGate Prepared in Cincinnati, Ohio. What’s really exciting is that this is the first in a series of free school safety conferences in three states over the next two weeks.  I have had the privilege of presenting for them before and we are currently planning additional conferences for New York and Pennsylvania in September.  For each free school safety conference, I will present for three hours in the morning followed by interactive school safety building tours with participants. This is a great chance to learn hands-on with me and see a school through my perspective.

While we do not provide product endorsements or sell advertising space, we do appreciate NaviGate Prepared for their commitment to safer schools. This conference series is a great example, with a full day of solid content and concepts – not filler designed to focus on a particular product.

During the workshops, Michael will share actionable insights guests can implement immediately. The agenda includes a school safety audit where Michael will identify safety gaps, effective solutions and best practices throughout the building.

NaviGate Prepared is sponsoring the Safety Summit Workshops to give administrators and first responders access to critical safety information. According to Thom Jones, general manager, NaviGate Prepared, “I love seeing how audiences react during Michael’s presentations. He is a tremendously dynamic speaker. The depth of his knowledge and experience is unparalleled.” Jones states, “I am thrilled we are able to bring this level of school safety knowledge to so many administrators and first responders.”

“We are honored to be hosting the Safety Summit Workshop at Grayslake Central High School,” says Catherine Finger, Ed.D, superintendent, Grayslake Community High School District 127. She adds, “School safety is always a top priority for us so we appreciate this opportunity to learn new ways to mitigate risks, prepare our staff and students to respond appropriately in an emergency and implement proven safety methods throughout our buildings. We look forward to many Illinois school districts taking advantage of this important event and appreciate the generosity of NaviGate Prepared sponsoring this workshop and for bringing renowned safety expert, Michael Dorn.”

Free School Safety, Security and Terrorism Conference in Indiana

Next week I am presenting at a one-day school safety and school terrorism conference that is free of charge for public safety officials and educators. The Indiana Public Safety Summit will be held at the Indiana Historical Society in Indianapolis, Indiana on Thursday, August 12th, 2016.   Lt. Col. Dave Grossman will also be presenting at the same conference. Dave is a powerful presenter and it will be good to have the opportunity to hear him present again. I always learn some new things when I get to hear Dave Grossman present. Please forward this to anyone who you think might benefit from this opportunity to attend a school safety conference at no charge. Attendees seeking law enforcement credit hours can pay a fee of $100.00 per department for 8 hours of accredited training. This fee is per agency, with no limit on the number of attendees from each agency, and there is no charge unless you are seeking credit hours.

Free Safe and Welcoming Schools Webinar

Free Safe Schools Webinar

I will be delivering a free webinar sponsored by my editors at School Planning and Management Magazine this Thursday at 1:00 P.M. EST. The session will address crime prevention through environmental design concepts that can be used to create warm and caring school climates even when dramatically increasing physical security measures. As many schools increase security measures due to concerns of active shooter, active killer and terrorist attacks, it is extremely important to make students, staff, parents and other members of the school community feel welcome and connected.

This session will feature visual examples from our work with schools across the United States, Vietnam, India and Trinidad – Tobago to show how important the concept of territoriality is in light of high levels of fear of extreme violence. Tips on improving physical security and improved survivability for mass casualty incidents will be provided as well.

If you can spare an hour this Thursday, we would love to have you participate.
