Darin Marcus

For over 17 years, Darrin has been a leader in the law enforcement industry. He started his career in 1997 with the Macon Police Department. Early on he grew a passion for working traffic and DUI cases. He was selected to become a member of the department’s DUI Task Force after being an officer for about 1 ½ years.  Soon after that selection he was asked to become a field training officer training new officers who came out of the police academy.

After training several officers, he decided to move out of traffic and try out for a spot on the S.W.A.T. team. After earning a spot and perfecting his shooting skills he became one of the snipers. He has participated in numerous search warrants and hostage situations.

After leaving the team, Darrin decided to go back to what he loved most, which was traffic accident investigations. He was assigned to the Traffic Fatality Investigation Unit and trained under one of the most well-respected accident investigators in the state. In addition to the on the job training Darrin completed levels 1 & 2 of On Scene Traffic Accident Investigations and levels 1-5 of Traffic Accident Reconstruction. He is a member of the International Association of Traffic Accident Reconstruction Specialist and is an expert witness in municipal, state, superior, and federal court. He has worked more than 2500 traffic accidents and approximately 100 traffic fatalities. In 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was the lead investigator on the unit. He consults for private attorneys, insurance companies, and individuals who have concerns about how an accident was worked.

Darrin also has an extensive background as a trainer.  In 2001, he was selected to go to Instructor Training. After completing the course, he realized how much he loved to teach and began to pursue other instructor courses. He completed RADAR instructor, LASER instructor, DUI & Field Sobriety instructor, Driving instructor, Firearms instructor, Health and Wellness instructor, Defensive Tactics instructor, Expandable Metal Baton instructor, and OC Spray instructor.
